“Swallow it!” Kaylie demanded.
He did as he was told. Blount was embarrassed to see him following orders from anyone, let alone a woman.
Kaylie took a sip and gave it a second. It tasted fine, and she gulped down the rest.
JD immediately then spit his onto the floor.
“How did you...” she looked down, appalled. “I saw you swallow!”
He howled with laughter. “I can swallow without swallowing.”
Blount cackled. His hero had redeemed himself. “Genius!”
JD nodded and smiled.
“No normal person,” she shook her head, “would ever bother to learn that.” She was furious for allowing herself to be outmaneuvered by an idiot.
JD needed the drugs to keep her docile, pliable and, most importantly, with no memory of what happened. He truly believed they might get back together after Dobie was dead. It was a longshot, but a dumbass can dream.
