Book 4: Lottery President
Episode 8

“I don’t know,” Dobie gave an awkward laugh. “Do I have to pick one now?”
“Soon, I should think.”
“Um...” Dobie tried to buy time. “How would you like to be my running mate?”
On the other side of the glass, Shane lurched back in his chair, but they were deep theater-type seats, which kept him contained.
Before she could answer, Dobie said, “Just kidding. Unless you want to be my running mate, in which case I’ll have to put you through the vetting process.”
There was no vetting process.
“But, I haven’t seriously started looking for a running mate yet, no.”
“Scared the crap out of me with that one!” Shane exhaled.
“You’re still hoping he picks you, aren’t you?” said Rudy.
“It only makes sense. I’d be perfect. I’ve got the looks, charm, brains…”
“… and humility,” said Rudy.
“…and he’s got... what, exactly?”
“Common sense and likability?”
“No. He’s got his name on the ballot.”
