Book 4: Lottery President
Episode 7

“You sound like a conspiracy theorist,” Carlos opined, “talking about the military corporate complex and assassination.”
“I’m just paraphrasing Eisenhower on the first one. As for the second one, we all know it happens. It happened right here in this city. If two or more people are conspiring, anyone not in on it or in support of it will probably theorize about it. They happen every day, especially in politics. Ask any cop or lawyer. Half of their cases are based on alleged conspiracy.”
Temporarily distracted by an electronic voice in his ear, Carlos nodded and said to someone on the other end, “Uh-huh, uh-huh.” Returning his attention to Dobie, he was strangely excited when he asked, “Anything else you’d like to add, before we wrap things up?”
“Yes, Carlos – and this is very important – I’ll make sure beauty pageant contestants actually do work toward world peace. No more just wishing for it!”
He paused to see Carlos’s reaction. All he got was a blank stare.
